We're updating the current Grand Traverse County Community Park, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenway Plan, and we need YOUR input to ensure that we are meeting our community's parks and recreational needs, wishes, and wants. Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation refines this plan every five years, and a new parks master plan, with your contributions incorporated, will be submitted to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) for review and approval in early 2018. Your suggestions and ideas for park improvements are welcomed and wanted during the next few months.
Commonly referred to as “Five-Year Recreation Plans,” up-to-date Community Park, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenways plans on file with the MDNR are necessary for state parks and recretional entities to qualify for financial assistance through MDNR grant programs. Such funds help develop and enhance our state's recreational green spaces and facilities for the benefit of all.
Please follow the link and take this first step in the master planning process by reviewing our current plan and providing your ideas and suggestions in an e-mail to the Director of Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation, Kristine Erickson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your thoughtful contribution! We also will invite you to participate in a parks survey and some community input meetings in the near future. Stay tuned for more information. These are exciting times in YOUR parks!
