Grand Traverse County COVID-19 Community Update - June 22, 2020 

DAILY NUMBERS AND COMMUNITY TESTING

The Grand Traverse County Health Department (GTCHD) reports one new positive case today bringing the total to 38 positive cases, 6 probable cases, 19 recoveries, and 5 deaths in Grand Traverse County residents. There are three Grand Traverse County cases (of the 38) currently in isolation being monitored. Additional statistics are available on the County’s dashboard.  

The new case is a male in his 30s who became symptomatic while traveling out of state. He did not travel during his infectious period and based upon the case investigation the exposure was community-acquired where he traveled. Close contacts have been notified in that state. Contact tracing continued through the weekend on the two positive cases reported in the community update on Friday, June 19 and all close contacts have been notified. 

Regionally, Munson Healthcare is reporting COVID-19 testing results on its website for each of its hospitals. Numbers listed are by hospital, not county of residence. 

Michigan has reported 61,230 positive cases and 5,846 deaths of COVID-19. 49,290 have recovered in Michigan.

TRAVERSE AREA DISTRICT LIBRARY - MAIN BRANCH REOPENING JUNE 24

The Main Branch of the library will reopen with face coverings required: 

  • Monday-Thursday: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

Curbside service will continue for patrons who prefer the option or for those who cannot/will not wear masks. Details on what library patrons can expect for their visit are available on the TADL website.  

FRONT ST. OPEN ONLY TO PEDESTRIANS STARTING TODAY

In an effort to allow shoppers and diners more space to practice social distancing, the DDA, in cooperation with the City of Traverse City and Downtown business owners, are opening Front Street between Park Street and Union Street to pedestrians only today through Labor Day. To help with vehicle traffic during this closure, State Street – also between Park Street and Union Street – will change from a one-way street to a two-way street.

STAY SAFE TO STAY OPEN
Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to Stay Safe to Stay Open. This includes the following measures while in public:

  • Staying 6 feet apart 
  • Wearing masks
  • Limiting large social gatherings 
  • Continuing basic prevention measures like frequent hand washing
  • Following workplace safety protocols.
