Grand Traverse County COVID-19 Community Update - June 29, 2020 

DAILY NUMBERS AND COMMUNITY TESTING

The Grand Traverse County Health Department (GTCHD) reports 3 new positive cases from the weekend bringing the total to 43 positive cases, 7 probable cases, 22 recoveries, and 5 deaths, leaving 16 active cases in Grand Traverse County residents. Additional statistics are available on the County’s dashboard.  

  • Two males in their 50s with symptoms and a history of domestic travel  
  • Female in her 20s with no travel and no known exposure.
  • One probable case is awaiting testing results and is related to one of the positive cases
  • Contact tracing is currently underway on all cases, there was no air travel during infectious period of any cases 

Regionally, Munson Healthcare is reporting COVID-19 testing results on its website for each of its hospitals. Numbers listed are by hospital, not county of residence. 

Michigan has reported 63,261 positive cases and 5,911 deaths of COVID-19. 51,099 have recovered in Michigan as of 6/26/20.

Testing sites have capacity and tests are available. Individuals seeking tests can call:

  • Their healthcare provider

  • The Michigan COVID-19 hotline: 888-535-6136  

STAY SAFE TO STAY OPEN RESOURCES:

In an effort to help more businesses and communities “stay safe to stay open”, a new library of graphics, social media templates, and other communication tools is being made available on the Traverse Connect website. Additional resources will be added in the coming days.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department’s reopening toolkits are available on the Health Department website

STAY SAFE TO STAY OPEN
Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to Stay Safe to Stay Open. This includes the following measures while in public:

  • Staying 6 feet apart 
  • Wearing masks
  • Limiting large social gatherings 
  • Continuing basic prevention measures like frequent hand washing
  • Following workplace safety protocols.

Grand Traverse County’s Joint Operations Center has been meeting to coordinate efforts and communication on the COVID-19 pandemic since Friday, March 13. Members include key community partners from health, government, first responders, education, social service, and business sectors.
